Review 686: Francesco Galli, Alfani

Review by Christina from FL

2bed/1bath apartment in historic center, Florence

June 16-July 31, 2003, 6 weeks

Wonderful apartment owned by Miss Artini and represented by Mr. Francesco Galli. Located right in city center 2 blocks north of the Duomo, one block south of San Marco Square (a main bus square), 2 blocks from Santissmo Annuziata, one block from the real "David" (accedemia). Walk to all in 30 seconds to ten minutes. Grocery store 2 blocks and all shopping (cafes, trattoria, jewelry, books, pizza, banks, specialty stores--you name it around the corner). San Lorenzo Market 5 mintes walk. Via Tournaboni (high end shopping),Piazza Seignoria and Medici Palace 8 minutes walk. Train station, uffizi gallery, oltrano, ponte vecchio--10 minute walk. Location, location, location. Imagine a spider web and this apartment is at the center.

Very safe--I rented as a single woman with 2 children. Fourth and top floor apartment with lift. Views of the Duomo from Living room and master bedroom(double bed sleeps 2). Living room has couch bed sleeps 1. Views of Fiesole(lovely tuscan hill-city)and florentine roof tops from kitchen and small secondary bedroom(sleeps 1). Newly refurbished bath and kitchen. Full kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, stove-oven and washing machine. Full cooking utensils including the best food processor I've ever used. Great kitchen for experimenting with Italian cooking. Air conditioning in living room which can be felt in the master bedroom as well. Very clean and simple but comfortably furnished. Full sets of sheets and many towels etc. No need to bring anything but your luggage. Approximately 90 square meters (good size).

Both Francesco Galli, the represenative and Miss Artini are honest and wonderful people. Very professional yet down to earth and acommidating. Mr. Galli even came by to meet us. He speaks English quite well. Miss Artini does not speak much English but we were able to communicate effectively enough. The situation was ideal as we felt like we were dealing with friends rather than an agency. One thing definite is that you can count on their word!

Drawbacks--vespas can be noisy on the living room and master bedroom side if the windows are open. This is only a problem however in summer at night if you do not want to use the air conditioning. Only Italian t.v--no satellite. No phone but this problem was solved with a rental cell from a local italian company. No balcony.

Suggestions: Add portable fans for the two bedrooms. I personally look foward to staying at this same apartment in the future and you can't go wrong with the location!
