Review 690: Owner, Casa delle Rose
house near Pescia (and near Lucca), Tuscany North
June 2003, one week
Between pleasure and business, I have, over the past 20 years, visited Italy perhaps 10 times. For the past 6 years I have taken two of my grandchildren (boys) starting at age 6 and 9 to Italy with me. During the past few trips I have rented a house for a week.
In June of this year I rented a house in Tuscany located outside of Lucca in the southern foothills of the Appennines and just north of the town of Pescia (off Rt 435). Pescia is often mentioned in the guide books for its flower markets but not one that you would go out of your way to visit. It has several good restuurants and shops as well as regular train connects to Lucca, Pisa Florence and other parts of Italy. Florence is about an hour or so away. Most people think of southern Tuscany such a Siena, etc. but this area offers many points of interest without the crowds.
The house the Casa delle Rose is located just a few kilometers north of Pescia in Pietrabuona Castello, a very small walled medieval mountain town. The owners of the Casa delle Rose have maintained an atmosphere of inviting you to use their lovely Tuscan house.
Wonderful kitchen, bedrooms, baths, etc. and the shaded garden is a great place to relax. You can walk to nearby stores but you will need a car for any activities.
You can get an accurate and informative brochure from the owners by contacting them at email@example.com
