apartments in Dorsoduro, Venice WhenJune 2003, 5 nights LocationThe location was perfect for us. This apartment overlooks a small canal and has wonderful views. This area was very quiet. There was some construction going on across the canal, but it really didn't bother us. All we could hear was the lapping of the water in the canal and the occasional peel of bells at the Salute Church. Nearby AmenitiesIt is a short walk to the Academia bridge and is close to many shops and restaurants. There is a grocery store called Billa that is about a 15 minute walk on the Zattere. The House/ApartmentThe building appeared to be very old, but was in good condition. The furniture is very antique and the owner expects you to use it gently. The apartment was very spacious. GardenThere is a small but pretty garden area where we had a little wine and cheese party one night. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture is very old but in good condition. The beds were very comfortable. The living room funiture was not terribly comfortable but was nice. There were plenty of chairs for the 4 of us. There really wasn't a dining room but a small table in the living room area could be used. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were very comfortable. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated with old photos from Venice. There are 2 decent sized bathrooms. KitchenThe kitchen is very small, but usable. We did not cook much, but the basic supplies were available. Problems or BonusesWe were surprised by the overall spaciousness of the apartment! Agency and Representatives (and price)The owner speaks English very well and visited with us several times during our stay. She was very friendly, but not intrusive. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would love to stay here again. This apartment has become very popular and the prices have increased according to demand. Things to do in this areaThere is a glass shop nearby that my kids really enjoyed, but I cannot remember the name. You walk by it on the way to the apartment. The owner was very friendly! He spoke English well and enjoyed joking around with my teenagers! This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
