Review 769: Owner, Villa San Crispolto

Review by Italy Renter from NY

9bed/5bath villa near Passignano sul Trasimeno, Umbria

June-July 2003, 3 weeks

The property was lovely. It was on a mountain overlooking Lago Trasimeno and the town of Passignano. It was private but open with no buildings within sight or walking distance. It was peaceful, quiet, lush, lovely -- I cannot say enough about it.

Nearby Amenities

No you really must drive, although the distance wasn't far to the town -- it was directly uphill all the way.

The House/Apartment

The house was historic -- it was a restored farm house with a chapel. It was in perfect shape and restored to a comfortable level. There were screens on every window, modern bathrooms and modern conveniences in the kitchen.

The gardens were lovely -- there were olive trees lining the path to the pool which was beautiful. The pool had a great shallow area for children but also a good deep swimming area. Also there was a separate outdoor grill area with tables with an view of the mountains. The pool was very well maintained on a daily basis.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The house was clean and maintained well and the furniture was comfortable but not overwhelming in the space.

There were lovely bed furnishings -- more than enough bathrooms for each bedroom and the bathrooms were very well appointed with modern plumbing as well.

The kitchen had more than enough pots, pans and dishes for the huge number of people who could stay in the house. It was perfect for cooking and hanging out in while you are cooking. The only complaint we could mention is that there wasn't alot of cabinet space for the food. But there were open shelves to address that problem. There was a dishwasher as well as a microwave.

Problems or Bonuses

Good: Just a lovely, peaceful space without any impediment to the view. We had a washer-dryer in the laundry room as well as wonderful wonderful hosts!

Bad; NOTHING!!!!

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner now runs the place and is invisible yet constantly maintaining a spotless beautiful house with gorgeous grounds. The place was even more beautiful than the information/website said.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay there over and over again. It was wonderful place. I give it my unqualified highest recommendation.

Things to do in this area

There are many lovely historic towns and villages within 20-40 minutes drive. Also there was a great restaurant also owned by the owner of the house -- perfect for kids it had a few rides, pinball machine, great pizza and forcaccia -- within 15 minutes from the house in Tuoro.
