In the fall of 2003, my brothers and I traveled with my Dad to Italy. The purpose was to spend some time with our Dad and enjoy a bit of our culture. Being Italo/American we enjoy the history, the beauty, and especially food of Italy.

We were looking for a home base. We found Casale Sonnino through the Internet. A villa in the foothills of Rome, the Casale has easy access to the main highway of Italy. For months we planned our daily trips in the mountain villages like Tivoli, Frascati, Castel Gandolfo & Nemi. The lunches were top priority scenery a close second.

Our nights were planned around the bigger cities, like Rome (of course), Orvieto, & Fiumacino just to name a few.

Casale Sonnino, to our enthusiastic pleasure, was much more than a home base. It became our home away from home.

The owner and manager are live in Mom (Clo) & Son (George) both from the U.S. The Villa has been in their family since 1883. Rich in history, beauty, and charecter, the Casale was a chance for us to become part of the every day life of an Italian vinyard. Our hosts were resources for daily directions to some of the hidden places to see in the area.

The Treves family provided great comfort in our sleeping rooms, great morning breakfast, lunches, and wonderful banquet at night. Our laundry was done daily.

Each night we would gather on the roof top patio to sip on Lemoncello, or Frangelico and get drunk on the view of ROME in the foreground.

We found a home, and we will return, for all roads lead to the Casale Sonnino.
