Review 811: Villa Concierge, Primavera

Review by L. Kessler from AZ

1bed/1bath apartment in the historic center, Florence

2003, 1 week

We rented apartment Primavera in Florence, Italy. The apartment was in an outstanding location, right on the Arno River, across from the Uffizi Museum. All of the amenities were outstanding. Beautiful view, comfortable furnishings, satellite television, fully equipped kitchen with beautiful dinnerware, full-sized refrigerator and a large, full bathroom.

The building has a number of apartments and include a doorman at the front door. The apartment was quiet and secure.

Nearby Amenities

The apartment is very convenient to wine shops, bakeries, groceries, and take-away foods. The closest grocery shopping is but 1/2 block away.

The House/Apartment

The building is historical, previously a palace. There were a number of apartments in the building of varying sizes, but there was no noise from other apartments.

No pool or outside sitting area.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was lovely. Very comfortable. There were 2 couches in the living room as well as additional chairs. There was a large table and chairs in the living room and also a desk with a chair. The kitchen was spacious, well-appointed. There is also a table and chairs in the kitchen.

The bed was very comfortable. Bedroom was nice. Bathroom was very spacious with full shower, tub and heated towel rack.

I love to cook, so the kitchen was a special requirement for me. There were plenty of pots and pans of lovely quality. I was impressed with the dinnerware as it was very tasteful and everything matched --- nothing was chipped or broken. There were teacups, espresso cups, coffee cups and even coffee mugs! There was a lovely tray where we would set up coffee or tea service for morning breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised by the large refrigerator with a freezer.

Problems or Bonuses

No problems at all. We were met at the door by the apartment representative when we arrived. She even reserved a taxi for us the day prior to our departure. We were surprised by the spacious rooms and the beautiful appointments in the kitchen. The handpainted walls are gorgeous!

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Villa Concierge arranged everything for us. No language problem whatsoever. The reality of the apartment reflected the information we were provided with on the internet. We were well-pleased.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Not only have I recommended this rental to others, we would love to stay there again! It was convenient, safe, lovely, and centrally located. The perfect jumping off spot for daytrips in Tuscany.

Things to do in this area

Shopping was outstanding. People watching is a must. Florence is so easily walked, everything is convenient. Groceries were easily obtained at Mercado Centrale.

After searching the web for days, I was at my wit's end. We were looking for an apartment to rent in Florence for a week. We wanted to relax, shop, and enjoy the beauty of the city. It was also important to be located conveniently so that we would not need to rent a car. Parking is very difficult in Florence. I finally was referred to Villa Concierge and was delighted to have Carmel D'Arienzo as my contact. Carmel's knowledge of Florence was exactly what I was looking for! I wanted a convenient, tasteful apartment that would provide comfort and atmosphere. Carmel sent me a selection and we made our choice.

Usually we visit Italy in late summer or early fall, but this time we decided on November. We arrived, took a cab to the address and were delighted to be met by a representative for the apartment. She was outstanding! We signed the rental papers and gave her our deposit. She showed us through the apartment and assured us that if we needed anything all we had to do was give her a call. Excellent customer service.

We immediately felt at home. Florence was in the process of decorating for Christmas. What a lovely time to visit! No crowds, beautiful weather, wonderful food, outstanding wines. What more could we ask? The location of the apartment was perfect. We had a doorman at the apartment and always felt secure. We decided that an apartment was a great way to enjoy Florence. We had coffee every morning while enjoying the view of the Arno and the beautiful Uffizi. It was perfect.

Villa Concierge and Carmel D'Arienzo were wonderful to work with. We are now looking for an apartment along the Amalfi Coast for our next trip and we wouldn't even consider contacting anyone but Carmel. Her knowledge of Italy is outstanding and she is an excellent resource for accommodations. I have referred others to Villa Concierge without any hesitation. I know my friends will be well taken care of! Using Villa Concierge turned a regular vacation into a special memory of one of my favorite cities!
