Review 835: Hotel Residence Bellevue, Apartment
Hotel rooms and apartment in Amalfi, Campania
April 2003, 6 days
The apartment (two rooms and a large balcony over looking the gulf) was very clean and pretty (white tile with dark blue accents) the cupboard kitchen was adequate. Antonio, the hotel director, did everything to make his guests feel welcome.
We arrived at about 2pm and after checking in asked if we could eat lunch at the hotel. They didnít serve lunch but since it was too late to go anywhere else we could eat with the family (wife, son, daughter-in-law, grandchild). Antonio also cooks and is very good.
When we asked where we could get our laundry done he said he could do it at the hotel (no problem, not expensive). The next day about 4 kilo of laundry was washed, dried and folded in a wicker basket and left in our room (10 euro).
When we asked about a shuttle to the town he said when you want to go Iíll drive you. We walked down the hill to Amalfi, it was supposed to be about 800 meters but Iíd guess closer to 1200 meters (we were about 200 meters from the hotel Santa Caterina). The walk down was easy (we did it at least once a day) but we took the bus back up the hill (1 euro for the bus ticket and the buses left about every half hour, there was a bus stop 10 meters from the hotel). Iím too old and lazy, and my wife had too many purchases (market day is Thursday), to make the walk back.
