apartments on estate near Rosia, Tuscany West Whenbefore 2001 ReviewI have another great place for you ... it's called Montestigliano. It's an old farm village converted into a vacation village. It's 15 minutes outside of Siena. (The nearest small town for groceries etc. is Rosia.) The restaurants in and around Montestigliano are great. One, in the little village of Tocchi 20 minutes away was some of the best food I've ever eaten in Italy. The countryside around there is charming and the real asset of the place is a lady named Susan who runs it and can do everything from fixing a balky fusebox to planning a tour of Etruscan ruins. They have lots of different types of accomodations - from one entire house that sleeps 6, to small apartments. Each have kitchens, beautiful views and access to 2 pools on the premises. The main building is a beautiful old villa in which you can take part in a family style dinner prepared 2 or so nights a week. Our family LOVED this place! I recommend booking this place through a very nice group of Italian travel buffs called the Brown Partners. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
