Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 913: Venetian Apartments, Giustinian (V65)
3bed/3 bath apartment, Venice
2002, one week
An excellent location close to the Accademia bridge on the first floor of a converted Palazzo. A reasonably peaceful location but with some noise from the Grand Canal very early in the morning. A very nice position to watch the world go by from.
Within easy walking distance of nearly everything in Venice. Three minutes to The Accademia Gallery about 12 minutes to st Mark's. A very good selection of restuarants nearby and about 5 minutes away from a good delicatessen. Coffee shops in abundance in Campo St Stefano about three minutes away. A long walk to the nearest supermarket.
All was in very good order with approximately 6 other apartments in the building.
There was a small balcony overlooking an internal courtyard with no sunshine!
Everything was carefully chosen and very nicely done but we felt we were intruding as there were many personal belongings of the owners left on display.
Lovely comfortable bedrooms with good quality linens and excellent bathrooms. Two had a jacuzzi bath and the third to the small, single, bedroom was a shower room only, but very nice.
A small kitchen with most amenities. Everything was of a high standard with enough equipment to cook a good meal.
Problems or Bonuses
Problem: We had to creep about on tiptoe otherwise the neighbours would come and complain.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The agency is very good and efficient but also very businesslike. We were a family party of 5, all adult and the publicity states that it is only suitable for couples because of the risk of disturbing the neighbours. I would agree with that but then why rent a 3 bedroom apartment?!! It is now £2000 + a week including, I think, private water taxi transfers.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would not recommend this to anyone because it is an oddity, big but only suitable for 2 or 3! I am hoping to be able to recommend the agency once it gets bonding. At the moment it is much too risky to put down your rental deposit and security deposit and hope the agency won't get into finacial difficulties. If it does you stand to lose both. I am unable to understand why they do not have the necessary insurance.
Things to do in this area
Venice at your feet.
