Review 917: Dolce Roma, Roman Forum

Review by Troy from MA

studio apartment in Monti, Rome

Rome, Italy, 1 week

This was our 4th trip to Rome and by far (thanks to Natalia Bianchi and Dolce Roma) our most successful. Actually we were lucky to stay in 2 of her wonderful and most convenient apartments.

"Colosseum View" is just that - a lovely 2 bed/2 bath apartment big enough for 2 couples within view of the most spectacular sight in all of Rome. We were met at the airport and taken directly to the apartment where we settled in and napped away the 'jet lag' (rather than wait until a hotel could check us in .. because we arrived too early for check in .. ugh).

A few days later we moved to "Roman Forum" (I had booked too late to stay in one or the other for the entire trip) and though a tiny bit smaller, 1 queen bed & 1 loft bed/1 bath, it suited us perfectly. It was within steps of everything Rome has to offer and 1 short block walk away - there was the Colosseum again, just down the street. We had a lovely little garden under the bedroom windows and at night it was so quiet you'd think you were in the country.

The area is called Monti and it is charming. Natalia leaves a big basket chock full of information on Restaurants/Internet Points/Bancomat/ATM/Bus schedules/etc. She even offers you the use of a cell phone! The kitchen was very tidy and the apartments were spotlessly clean. She even left the frig full of snacks and drinks.

All in all it was a delight to be able to get up and leisurely have a big breakfast then head out for the day. The area felt very safe and comfortable to walk around even quite late in the evening.
