Review 951: Villa Rosa, The Cottage

Review by Gareth from UK

Two apartments and cottage on a farm outside Montemelino, near Perugia, Umbria

2004, 1 Week

Located in little hamlet in Umbrian hillside about 5 miles from Perugia.

Nearby Amenities

Walk to wonderful Umbrian restaurant. 2 minute drive to local shop which provided all necesseties and wine. 10 minute drive to major supermarket. 15 minute drive to center of Perugia.

The House/Apartment

We rented beautiful cottage on the property which has been tastefully renovated by Megan and Lino. Cottage included fully functional kitchen, 2 bedrooms with mezannine other room. Verry modern and stylish bathrooms include power showers, jacuzzi bath. Living room overlooking patio areapresent glorious views of Umbrian countryside (unrestricted).

Private sitting area to front of house. Side entrance approached pool which was shared with 2 other apartments on site (although none of other guests happened to cohabit with us).

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Everything was beautifully presented. Sitting room / Dining Room would easily accommodate family of 5. House was spotless.

Extremely comfortable with no unnatural light penetrating rooms. Beds were dressed intop quality sheets and bathrooms were of 5* hotel standard.

Kitchen was as ones own home - fully functional with top quality appliances and utensils.

Problems or Bonuses

Surprise was how wonderful the cottage was. The website undersells it.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Booked directly with Megan through email who was extremely helpful both through the booking and throughout stay.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Highly. We have passed on details to our friends. Megan and Lino were extremely hospitable. The location was as perfect as one could want if you were looking for modern facilities in a traditional location with beautiful surroundings.

Things to do in this area

The local village resturant has top quality meals at very reasonable rates. One must visit Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi, Spello. All of these and a lot of wonderful towns are within 45 minutes of Villa Rosa. It meant that we could appreciate the local area but get back to the cottage for our 18 months nap. We have twins on the way and we will definitely be returning in a couple of years.
