8bed/6.5bath villa near Lucca, Tuscany North

When

June 19 - 26, 2004, one week

Location

Villa Lupo is located 6km outside of the city of Lucca, so it seems very rural. It was very private, peaceful and quiet. We loved the area and the surrounding olive groves.

Nearby Amenities

Not within walking distance. We had a rental car, which we used to get to town. Then we took the train out of Lucca for day trips.

The House/Apartment

The villa was built in the 1400s. It was in excellent shape and obviously well cared for by the owners.

Garden

There was a lovely terrace with an outside eating area and a pool. This was private and was just for the guests of the villa.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Plenty of space in each room. Lots of seating. Maid came in daily to tidy up.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Very comfortable. No one complained. Bathrooms have all been recently remodeled so were in excellent shape and well done.

Kitchen

Great kitchen! We made lots of meals. It was well supplied with everything but the food. We did use the maid one evening to cook us a fabluous meal.

Problems or Bonuses

No surprises.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Treated very well by the agency. The owner lives in a separate building on the property, but aside from the initial meeting, we never saw anyone. He did speak English.

The property was just what I expected based on the descriptions and pictures on the web site.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay there again anytime! I would also highly recommend it to anyone.

Things to do in this area

We used the villa for our home base, and traveled by train to Florence, Pisa and Cinque Terre for day trips. The town of Lucca is also unique and deserves some time spent there. Giglio restaurant in Lucca is very good.
