Review 981: Owner, Villa San Crispolto

Review by Vincenzo from PA

9bed/5bath villa near Passignano sul Trasimeno, Umbria

May 29 - June 26, 1 month

After visiting Italy, on tours, conventions, etc., my wife and I always dreamed of spending a month or more in an Italian Villa, invite our nine children and some grandchildre (over 11), and some close friends. Logistically a difficult situation, it proved no problem at San Crispolto. I located the villa on the web, communicated with the owners Marco and Maria Rita by e-mail -- stepped out in faith and rented the villa for a month, site unseen. It is all the web site says and more.

The location is excellent, both to Lake Trasemino for local things and Italy in general as it is convenient to major sites such as Florence, Assisi, Siena, Deruta, Cortona, Rome etc. The web site shows the central Italian location quite well and we were able to visit all the above mentioned places plus the wine country of Chianti, Montepulciano and Montalcino. The children, ages 29 to 49, with spouses and friends travelled both by car and train, which is convenient from Passignano to many places.

The villa was wonderful, filled all our dreams and the gorgeous pool overlooking the lake and valleys proved a great respite to the day travellers and especially the grandkids who made it (7). The villa even supplied a crib for Katie, 10 mos. old who made the trip with our daughter and husband.

Marco and Maria Rita could not have been more gracious and or helpful, and Marco who speaks English quite well was only a cell phone call away which really proved a great asset. The villa furnishings are way above average as you can see, but the pictures fail to show the beauty of the location overlooking Passignano and the lake. The height of the villa over the lake must be in excess of 400 ft. and this doesn't show up in the virtual pictures to really give actual sense of the panoramic views that don't quit, whether from the bedrooms, kitchen or fantastic patio where we dined as many as 19 people, beautifully catered by Maria Rita and her family at only 30 Euro per person. It was served on lovely tableclothes, linen and crystal 5-6 courses, wine not included but their wine cellar and local venues provided that without any problem.

I do not hesitate to recommennd the villa and it is well suited to groups of different numbers. 5 or 6 couples would be a great way to experience the villa as well as family reunions, which is what we did. It certainly filled our dream vacation helping us to celebrate 50 yrs. of marriage. BUON VIAGGIO!!
