1bed/1bath aparment, Cannaregio, Venice WhenFebruary 2004, 1 week LocationOn a tiny calle just off Rio della Miseriacordia in Cannaregio. Very quiet and almost completely tourist free zone of Venezia. Nearby AmenitiesParadiso Perduto, Da Rioba, Sahara and Iguana are all restaurants within a 5 minute walk. 10 minute walk brings you to the heart of the Strada Nuova. Vaporetti stops within 10 minutes walk: Linea 1, 44. 15 minutes from the Rialto market. Maybe less via the Santa Sophia traghetto. The House/ApartmentModern and utilitarian apartment in an old building. The apartment consists of two rooms with a connecting hallway kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom very nice and large. Heat is provided by electric heaters that work fairly well. We were there in a cold and snowy Carnevale and were never cold. When all three heaters are on high, the circut breaker may shut off. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture is functional and comfortable. The sofa in the dining/living room is a little firm. It folds out into a bed, not tested for comfort. The dining room table is a nice old wooden table and there are 4 chairs. The apartment is spotless and you get a bottle of prosecco and some basics (salt, pepper, a few spices, toilet paper) on entry. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds can be split into twin beds or pushed together into a matrimoniale. Firm but comfortable. Nice linen and lots of exra blankets. Plenty of storage space. Not a lot of room between the closet and the foot of the bed. The window opens onto the calle but it is a dead end and very quiet. KitchenThe kitchen is great. Big refrigerator, large 4 burner stove and a small but adequat sink. Lots of pots and pans, but we bring our own knives and were glad of that. We made 4 great feasts in the kitchen with no problem. You cannot eat in the kitchen area. Problems or BonusesThe neighborhood had a small village feel and you were in the middle of Venezia! Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked with Paola who is the owner's sister or sister-in-law. She is a dream to work with. We have rented from Paola three times now. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?YESSSSS! While not as quaint as their apartment in the Rialto market, it makes up for it with its location. When we return we will have to decide which apartment to rent as both have their charms! Things to do in this areaIts Venice!!! Read my trip report!
