2bed/1bath apartment in Cannaregio, Venice WhenMay - June 2004, 2 weeks LocationThe apartment overlooks the Cannaregio Canal. Looking out of the windows one way you can see the lagoon and the other way the Tre Archi bridge. It is opposite a water bus stop. We loved this location. It was quiet, residential, not touristy. Overlooking the canal was wonderful - you could sit and watch boats go up and down all day. Nearby AmenitiesThe nearest restaurant was about 100 yards away. The nearest shops about 10 minutes walk. The House/ApartmentThe building is 17th century. There are two apartments in the building and we didn't hear any noise from our neighbours. The accommodation is superb. It is comfortable, large, quiet, and spotless. GardenNo sitting out area or garden. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThis place is absolutely wonderful. There is plenty of space and a most comprehensive library of books about Venice. Bedrooms/BathroomsBoth bedrooms were comfortable: one is a bit bigger than the other. There is only one bathroom but it is large and well appointed. The tiled floors throughout the apartment are very pretty. KitchenThis kitchen is the best equipped of any place I've ever stayed. It has everything. It is not a huge room but everything is well laid out. Problems or BonusesThe only surprise was that it was even better than I thought it was going to be. Agency and Representatives (and price)The owners, Jonathan and Alisdair, are English and very friendly. They are the most organized people I've ever dealt with. Their website is faultless. I paid the equivalent of $1400 a week for May/June which I considered good value for money. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? Not only would I stay here again, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. Things to do in this areaThe pizza place down the street is pretty good. The nearby ghetto is worth visiting - this is the original ghetto! This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
