Brenda is BGE on the Slow Travel Talk message board.

I was a slow traveller long before I knew about this website we call SlowTrav. I have always loved staying in a guest house, apartment or B&B when travelling, because it allows me the luxury of actually living somewhere for a short time, rather than staying in a hotel and feeling like I'm only visiting. I didn't know that this way of travelling actually had a name - Slow Travel!

I've been a member of SlowTrav since October 2003, learning as much as I can about where to go and how to get there, and then discovering what there is to do once I arrive! The wonderful members of this website deserve so much credit for encouraging me and supporting me while I developed the courage needed to travel to so many amazing places in the last few years ~ Paris, Florence, Rome, Venice, as well as Santarcangelo, Forli, Rimini and Ravenna in Emilia Romagna, Italy.

I've also loved spending much of my life exploring my own country, Canada. Here's a few of the areas of Canada that I've lived in and visited over the years.

Cape Breton Island and most of Nova Scotia
Victoria, Vancouver and other spectacular places in the beautiful province of British Columbia
nearly every corner of my province of Alberta, from Calgary to Grande Prairie, from Banff to Jasper
la belle Province de Quebec, from Montreal to Le Malbaie along the banks of the St. Lawrence River
Toronto, Guelph, Elora, Grand Valley and many other delightful locations in Ontario
Winnipeg, Brandon and most of the small farming communities in southern Manitoba
Saskatoon, Regina and Lloydminster and many other beautiful cities and towns in Saskatchewan

Trip Report

Trip Report 926: My Dream Trip to Italy and France: A long time in the incubation stage, a long time in coming ... I'm sure there were those among you who thought I'd never take this trip! 3 weeks in Italy and 1 week in France came together in the blink of an eye ~ my dream trip became a reality in April of 2005. This trip was made on the wings of others holding me up and helping me to fly on my own. For that, I am forever grateful.
