Gracious hotel in a lovely Frankfurt neighborhood {4 stars}

Due to airline schedule changes, we needed to layover in Frankfurt for one night after having spent three glorious weeks in Venice. Rather than being depressed about leaving Venice a day early, we decided to try and find a nice hotel, in a nice neighborhood and have a little adventure before our flight home the next day.

The Alexander am Zoo is a 4 star hotel, located near the zoo in a mostly residential neighborhood called Bornheim. It is well connected to downtown Frankfurt by public transport. The neighborhood is filled with shops and restaurants and we very much enjoyed exploring this neighborhood.

The prices were quite reasonable, so we decided to splurge on a suite. The bed was very comfortable, spacious bath with two sinks and a separate toilet room with another sink. The furnishings were of good quality, the rooms were spotless and we really enjoyed the sitting room.

The price, including all taxes plus a very generous breakfast buffet was €159. The breakfast buffet was the most bountiful display I have ever seen in Europe.

The staff were very accommodating and English is spoken. We enjoyed our stay so much, we think we will layover again and avoid the stress of connecting flights in Frankfurt.
