Petit Auberge Les Bon Matins was a delightful getaway for Thanksgiving weekend in 2004. The bed and breakfast spans four turn of the century rowhouses along Argyle Avenue. Original architectural details are incorporated into more modern restorations throughout all buildings. Two rowhouses are dedicated entirely to private rooms, a third has the check-in desk and public lounges, and the fourth has the dining room. We stayed in room 703 for three nights. It was the perfect size for a couple with a comfy and large bed, small private bathroom, and additional seating for relaxing. The sunny warm color, exposed brick, and original artwork added life to the bleak winter days of our visit. Les Bon Matins also has comfort and deluxe rooms, suites, and apartments for longer stays or larger groups. We happened to peek into one of the deluxe rooms on our floor and found it just as delightfully decorated as our own room. On each floor with rooms, there was an open communal pantry stocked with a cookie jar and a few other little snack treats for guests. Breakfast was served in the dining room each morning. Guests were free to come when they wished during breakfast hours. Beautifully appointed in a sunny room, the furnishing were inviting and comfortable. Breakfast consisted of a few hot breakfast selections to order and a full buffet of pastries, fruits, yogurt, cereal, and more. Items such as the croissants and jam are homemade. We loved the quiet location, the easy access to the metro system just down the block, and the sumptuous breakfasts. It was easy to book online and the detailed website allowed us to get a realistic idea of the accommodations prior to making our reservation. Prices have not changed significantly since our stay when we paid ~$100/night for a budget room. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
