Loved this wonderful, charming storybook hotel.

If you have the opportunity to visit the lovely seaside town of Rovinj, by all means do so and stay at Casa Garzotto.

This restored storybook inn is located in the Old Town area near the harbor and is truly a delightful experience. It is a short walk from the main square on a picturesque cobblestone lane; the rooms are large with charming mini kitchenettes complete with table and chairs.

We were there with friends and family and had three rooms (one room per floor), each room was just perfect with antiques for ambiance and modern conveniences for comfort. If you have a problem with stairs, Casa Garzotto may not be right for you, but frankly the stay was worth the climb for us and we were spread from the European first floor to the fourth.

The bathrooms were modern with plenty of hot water. The air conditioning was very effective, no street noise and there were many good restaurants, bars, and shops close by.

The breakfasts were excellent, one of the best of our trip with home-baked breads, croissants, cheeses, meats, eggs, yogurts, cereals and cakes. The tea and cappuccinos were delicious as were the home-made jams. Each time we entered the downstairs room we were offered cold drinks or coffee, a very nice touch on a warm day.

No review would be complete without mentioning the amazing hospitality shown to us by the owner, Dario, his mother, Maria, and their lovely helper Zlatka whose welcoming smile we looked forward to each morning. They were unfailingly helpful, offering free bikes, information, restaurant bookings, and even laundry service which we gratefully took advantage of.

The town is pedestrian only, but Dario, arranges to take you in with your car and luggage to unload and then provides free parking during your stay. If you need your car, it is delivered to an area just outside of the pedestrian zone and a very short walk from the inn. We spent three nights in Rovinj at Casa Garzotto. It was very convenient for exploring the wonderful ancient hill towns of Istria. We were sorry to leave and will definitely stay there if we are lucky enough to visit Rovinj again.
