Casa Sirena is a lovely six bedroom bed and breakfast on Isla Mujeres. Its location just off the main square or zocalo is perfect. It is close to most of the wonderful cafes & restaurants in centro (downtown) but far enough away to be a haven of peace & tranquility. The rooms are large, bright & airy. They have balconies looking out over the rooftops to the Caribbean . The rooms are kept spotless. It’s wonderful to return at the end of the day to fresh linens & towels. The housekeeping staff leave towels on the bed twisted into a different shape each day. We were there on Valentine’s Day & our towels were shaped into hearts with rose petals strewn around & a box of chocolates in the middle. Really sweet. Innkeeper Steve has thought of everything to make one’s stay enjoyable. Breakfast is a different dish each morning but always included is a plate of fruit. Steve hosts a lovely cocktail hour on his rooftop deck where one can watch the sun slowly sink over the horizon. Guests mingle with Steve’s friends from the local expat community who often turn up for this popular evening ritual. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
