City Backpackers is not a hotel but more of a hostel / backpacker accommodation provider. It suits the tourist on a budget, close to city and cheap!

I was here in Singapore for a two night stopover, just flew from Perth into Singapore. As its name suggests, City Backpackers offers accommodation or bedspace for the tourist on a shoe-string.

I scouted for a couple of other backpackers but settled on this one mainly because of the location; it is right opposite Kallang MRT (the equivalent of a subway station). It is pretty central to the city and two stops from the shopping center but took me about 25 mins to get here from the airport. If you do it by train it costs only a couple of dollars.

They have three dormitories about 8-10 beds in each dorm, with lots of opportunities to get to know other people travelling. The place is generally safe and clean.

The staff is exceptionally friendly and do give you the personal touch when it comes to service.

However, the place is also quite small due to spacial constraints but I would say it's good value for money if you need somewhere to crash and have friendly people around you.

Amenities are basic, but they have free internet and safety lockers. I paid $17 a night which is a fraction of what i would have had to fork out for a hotel room; a pretty good deal for me.
