Just back from 2 weeks in Prague -- WOW!!! My original SlowTalk post was about finding an economical hotel. Well, I sure found it -- and in a fabulous location!!! We stayed at the Hotel Aureus Clavis, on the wonderful ancient cobblestone Nerudova street just down from the castle. With the discount of having every 4th night free, we only paid about $60/night! It was a wonderful old hotel with breakfast included (saving us another ~$10-20/day), charming rooms, no elevator or air conditioning -- but not really needed. The neighborhood is one of the oldest, unaltered neighborhoods in Prague, with the buildings dating as far back as the 1700's. Several embassies, quaint restaurants, and small shops are in the area; the tram stop is a block away; the Prague Castle is a 10-minute walk up the hill and the Charles Bridge is a 10-minute walk down the hill -- what an ideal location! Unless you can't manage stairs, I highly recommend this hotel; and I most definitely will stay there again if I return. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
