I stayed in the Hotel Cloister Inn for 5 days in November 2006. I am a female solo traveler and place importance in finding centrally located lodging that feels comfortable and safe. My interests in traveling to Prague were to visit all the major sights and have a nice selection of nearby cafes and restaurants and places to walk at night and feel safe about it. And the Hotel Cloister Inn fulfilled all of my needs completely. The Hotel Cloister Inn is located in what is considered to be the historical city center or Old Town (Stare Mesto) and is only a 5 minute walk to the famous Charles Bridge and is within close walking distance to most of the major sights like Old Town Square, Jewish Quarter, Petrin Hill and Prague Castle. I walked everywhere. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful with directions, tips and helped me to arrange for my taxi to the airport on departure. A very respectable breakfast buffet is served every morning and in the newly renovated lobby there is free coffee/tee and free internet access. I found the rooms and bathrooms to be very clean and comfortable. There is also an electronic self-serve safe in the room which allowed me to keep some of my personal belongings safe when I was out sightseeing. My room was on the second floor (there is a lift/elevator) and faced the street. Although during small pockets of time during the early evening part of the day there was some street noise, the hotel is located on an otherwise small and quiet street and I had no problems sleeping. I also never heard my neighbors above or on the side of me so the rooms are pretty well insulated. I booked my stay through the Venere.com Website, a SlowTravel Affiliate, and had no problems upon my arrival with checking in. The Venere website rates the hotel 3 stars and it is in my opinion an accurate rating. This is not a luxury hotel with all the bells and whistles but it is a comfortable, clean hotel with friendly staff and is in an exceptional location if your main purpose in visiting Prague is to visit the sights and enjoy the night life it offers. If I ever return to the wonderful City of Prague again I would without hesitation stay at the Hotel Cloister Inn again. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
