The Old Hotel Inn is three historical renovated buildings with 52 beautifully restored rooms. The location was great as it was situated right in the town’s main square (Namesti Svornosti) a pedestrian-only zone. You are within close walking distance to the town’s main attraction, the Cesky Krumlov Castle.

I am a female solo traveler and I traveled to Cesky Krumlov (placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List inn 1992), because I had read that it was a beautiful small town in the Czech Republic. I wanted to find a comfortable and centrally located hotel that would allow me to explore and photograph this unique town for 3 days. I found Hotel Old Inn by reading about it on the Slow Travel Talk forums. And the fact that it was located right in the center of town was very appealing to me.

I arrived in Cesky Krumlov by train. Although the hotel is only a 15-20 minute walk from the town’s train station, I decided to take a taxi. The cost was 100 ck, which I split with another solo traveler.

The hotel has a nice cellar bar and restaurant. There are also nearby cafes, restaurants and shops within close walking distance to the hotel. The hotel felt very comfortable and has a very cozy, charming atmosphere.

As a solo traveler I reserved a single room. My room was located on the second floor. It was small being a single, but it was comfortable. Rooms were decorated nicely. The bed was on the small side (twin), but I was able to sleep comfortably. The room was very pleasantly decorated with a bright yellow flower theme. All the furniture looked new and was in good shape. There was a TV, a minibar refrigerator, a writing desk and a nice armoire. The bathroom was very clean. It was small, but not cramped. Toiletries were included (shampoo).

My room was located on the second floor and overlooked the main square. I slept very well except for one night when there were some people just outside the hotel below my window. But other than that, the rooms are very well insulated and I slept very well. The hotel had these electronic card room keys, which it is a nice modern feature. You also used it to slip into this slot to turn on the lights. I preferred it to the old fashion key where you are required to drop off and pick up at the front desk. The lobby was very warm and welcoming. Internet was available for a small fee.

There is a buffet breakfast that is included in the hotel rate and it was fabulous. I’m a morning person and breakfast is my most important meal so this was a great feature. The selection had cold cereal, sandwich makings, scrambled eggs, fruit, nice selection of bread, sausage & bacon (although I don’t eat pork or beef). The restaurant staff (dressed in period costumes) was very friendly and kept the buffet tables well stocked and clean. From the restaurant you have a great view of the town’s main square.

I paid low season rates and thought the value was great. The hotel has a 3 star rating on Trip Advisor. They were not listed on the Venere.com website so I booked my room directly with the hotel and had no problems at check in.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in arranging my transportation shuttle to Linx (Austria), on my departure date.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. If I were to return to Cesky Krumlov I would want to stay here again.
