Mariners on the Waterfront at Batemans Bay is ideally located for a serene seaside weekend on the New South Wales south coast.
For a weekend break from the hustle and bustle of city life in Canberra, we chose Mariners on the Waterfront. This hotel motel has two and a half stars and is located right in the middle of the esplanade at Batemans Bay.
The rooms overlook the water and the hotel offers a large range of facilities like a restaurant/bistro, a convention area and a pool. The rooms contain a bar fridge, television, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, and have balconies with patio furniture for each room.
In our double room the “learner driver” and I had a choice of two single beds and a queen sized bed. From our upstairs room we had an excellent view of the bay, the jetty, and the birdlife, which consisted mainly of pelicans, cormorants and seagulls.
Breakfast was included in the price of the double room – A$89. The breakfast room was set out in buffet style and was self service, with a range of breads for toasting, cereals, juices, tea and coffee and a freshly made fruit salad.
Undercover car parking was a bonus, as was the gate leading out of the hotel grounds to the jetty, from which we fished.
We have stayed here before, years ago and really enjoyed ourselves. This time was just as good if not better. Batemans Bay has a lot to offer and this hotel is a great choice for those wishing to have a seaside getaway. In fact - I think I might try to get back there again in a couple of weeks!
