When: September 2012

For visiting popular Slovenian beauty spot Lake Bled, a nice B&B on the edge of town.

We stayed here for two nights in mid September. We wanted to see Lakes Bled and Bohijn but also wanted to avoid the tourist crowds. It was a fine choice.

This place is 2 km south of the busy town of Bled. Selo is a hamlet and shows some rural Slovenian character. In an accessible neighboring hamlet is a good restaurant, so you don't have to negotiate the roads in and out of Bled to get a meal. You might have some trouble finding it - a GPS might help. We had bad luck, in that the route given by Booking.com and map software was under construction and not passable, so we had to contact the owner for another route. Once we located ourselves, the location was just fine.

The owners are very friendly. They are long time residents of the area, and he builds and rows boats on the lake. The building is fairly new and very well crafted. Everything is very clean and in good condition. Our room was quite big and had a comfortable little balcony with a view. There is onsite parking.

Their breakfast room is attractive and large. Breakfast is fine, though we found the coffee wanting.

If you have a car, we would recommend staying here if visiting the area, to avoid the main town's tourist bustle.
