At €41 double (taxes and breakfast incl.) this hostal was a real steal. Central, yet quiet, the rooms are comfortable; staff are friendly.

Friendly English-speaking desk staff enjoy their town and promote its sights. The rooms are typically small but very clean. There was lots of hot water. There is a common lounge area to stretch out and read a paper or watch TV. There is a small TV in each room.

There is an elevator to the floors.

Breakfast is served in the top floor bar. A variety of breads, sweet rolls, cereals, ham and cheese are available.

Our room had a small window sill balcony from which we could see the Convento de Cristo.

The hostal is on a side street near a main thoroughfare so parking can be difficult at times.

Town sights and restaurants are in easy walking distance. The hike up to the Convento is an other matter! A pleasant riverside park is nearby.

Tomar is northeast of Lisbon and south of Coimbra.
