Apollo Bay is a town visited on a trip along The Great Ocean Road. It is a good stopping off point between Melbourne and Port Fairy, about 3 hours from Melbourne ( more if you stop along the way to look at the views). The Sandpiper Motel is located on a street off the main road that runs through the town. It is modern, very clean and well run. It was $155 a night. We stayed in an ocean view room. It was modern and very comfortable with a reasonably distant view of the ocean. The lovely beach is a 50 metre walk away. There was a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a toaster. There was crockery and cutlery so that you could make your breakfast of cereal and toast if required. At check in a small bottle of fresh milk was provided. The bed was comfortable with good linen and plenty of pillows. The shops and restaurants are a short walk away. Reception has a restaurant guide which was up to date and helpful. The Visitor Information Centre has ideas for activities in the area if staying for a few nights. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
