I almost hate to share this, as I want to make sure I can always get a room! Apparently we’re not alone in finding this place delightful, as there were many repeat guests while we were there for our first visit. First of all, the Sibonne is on Grace Bay Beach, and that beach is worthy of its reputation as one of the world’s great beaches. It is amazing – 12 miles of tropical perfection: White sand, perfectly clean, impossibly turquoise water, gentle water for swimming, a sane level of relaxed activity. The Sibonne isn’t upscale. No concierge, minimal service, no spa and all, just a little rough around the edges. There are two levels – rooms with patios below, rooms with balconies above them. They are arranged in retro style in a U around a lushly landscaped courtyard. There are only 30 rooms. It was one of the first hotels on this beach. It’s maybe 35 or 40 years old. It definitely has a retro feel – a pleasant one. The hotel is surrounded by places that are twice as costly, but for my tastes, no more appealing. And we all share that same great beach. Most rooms are 175 or 200 US dollars. The rooms are roomy enough and attractive enough. The bathroom in our room was a little below the standard of the rest of the room, but it was fine. The outdoor shared areas are lovely, and the beach chairs abundant enough. In general, it looks better in person than in the website photos – a nice surprise! Their beach restaurant, the Bay Bistro, is very well respected, and offered very good lunches and excellent dinners. The continental breakfast included with the room was pretty dismal, but it was free coffee in an nice setting. We will go back.
