Stylish and spacious suites in excellent location near Victoria Inner Harbour

The Oswego is variously described as a boutique or suites hotel : we thought it was excellent whatever the designation. It is situated on a quiet side road on the James Bay side of the Inner Harbour, minutes from the ferry port that serves the US bound boats and about 5 minutes walk from the Parliament Buildings.

There is a small lobby area containing the reception desk, with a bar seating and small dining area (where breakfast is served to those who donít want to use their kitchens). Reception staff were very friendly and efficient. We were upgraded on arrival from a standard two bedroom suite to a premium Ė the difference is not in the standard of the rooms but in the height in the hotel, affecting whether or not you have a view. Premium is from 7th upwards and we were on the 9th floor.

The suite exceeded our expectations: the entrance door led past a bathroom with shower to the very well equipped kitchen area . Further into this main room was a dining table and a sofa, chair and TV and full length French windows. The terrace, with spectacular views, ran the length of this room and proved to be a wonderful place to sit with a glass of wine, watching the boats coming into harbour.

To the left, a door led to the master bedroom with a very smart en-suite bathroom with large shower and tub. The views from this room, towards the east, were also lovely. The other bedroom came off the opposite side, and had a small door leading on to the end of the terrace. Both bedrooms had plenty of drawer and closet space.

The furnishing is modern, stylish and of a very high standard and kept that way by attentive housekeeping. It was the best accommodation on our trip and I would highly recommend. In July 2011 (over the BC Day holiday weekend) we paid CAN$221 plus taxes per night.
