A popular Thai restaurant - in fact 3 restaurants and a take-away - in Toronto. Pleasant surroundings, friendly service, excellent food and value.

Green Mango has been serving Thai cuisine in Toronto since 1980. There are 3 restaurants - 2 on Bloor St. West and one on Yonge St., with similar but not exactly the same menus. There is also a take-away, across the street from the Yonge St. location. We enjoyed our meal in February 2007 in the Kingsway Village location.

Green Mango is part of the street front along Bloor Street West. Four of us arrived without reservations around 7:00 o'clock on Friday, February 2. The restaurant was busy but there was a table available. The interior is pleasant and the service was friendly and attentive.

The food was excellent. We shared appetizers of CALAMARI and FRIED WONTONS. Both were accompanied by a spicy dipping sauce. Our main courses included CHICKEN CASHEW, BASIL CHICKEN, PHAT PHED TALAY (Tiger prawns, mussels, scallops and squid sauteed with bell peppers, long beans, onions, bamboo shoots and fresh basil) and GRILLED SCALLOPS IN GINGER SAUCE. All were served with rice. Most dishes on the menu have a "spice meter" indicator. We shared desserts of MANGO AND STICKY RICE and CREME BRULEE. Our beverages included SINGHA and TSINGTAO beers.

The bill for the 4 of us was approximately $95.00, including tip.

The menu includes vegetarian, lamb, beef, pork and duck dishes, in addition to several seafood and chicken selections.

I look forward to returning to Green Mango, at any of the 3 locations, to sample other menu items on another visit to Toronto.
