Cabrera 5099, Buenos Aires, Argentina , Phone: 4831-7002

Big portions of steak. Go when you are only hungry.

Directions: It is in the Palermo Area of Buenos Aires and is very popular with the Portenos.

This restaurant was recommended to me by my B&B for lunch. It also was my last meal in Buenos Aires as I was flying back to New York City that night. I was warned three times by my B&B the portions of food served at La Cabrera were large and to order half portions. They have a menu in English. I was given one when struggling to translate the Spanish menu.

I ordered half portion of Bife de Chorizo and a glass Malbac wine. For my starter, I selected Provoletta Cabra but I wished I skipped it. It was very good but it was too much food. The reason why I say this is when I first saw my steak I was about to have, it was large and it could have been for two people. Even the excellent Malbac wine I was served was in a large glass and it was really two glasses of wine.

Along with my excellent steak, they placed on my table a large platter. On the platter were small bowls that contain various foods like apple sauce, sweet potatoes, white potatoes and other delicious looking vegetables that I did not get a chance to try. That was because of the Provoletta, my large steak and large glass of wine I was full.

Since I paid in cash, I was given a 10% discount on my bill. A bill that was already inexpensive in the first place around $20 US dollars. I will eat here again, but La Cabrera is place you have to be extremely hungry because of the large portions.

I did have a chance to see Bife de Chorizo full portion at a table next to me and I have to say that was one huge looking steak.
