Genuine Puerto Rican country food in a beautiful setting

This restaurant located on an old coffee plantation in the mountains east of Mayaguez.

It was well worth the trip on curvy rt 105 to sample this delicious food, but I was glad my nephew who is familiar with this area was driving. He was only too glad to take us to a place where we could try traditional foods. He and my husband enjoyed their meaty meals; sorry I don't remember specifics. I was thrilled with my huge plate of traditional roots and vegetables including sweet potato, diasorea yam, green banana and squash accompanied by bacala (cod) salad. Dessert was arroz con coco leche (coconut milk rice pudding).

The setting is lovely, as seen in the photo. We had a peek at one of the guest rooms in the Hacienda. It was naturally cool and well ventilated.
