Buenos Aires: Olsen

Gorriti 5870, Buenos Aires Argentina

Three words, MY WORST MEAL!

Directions: It is located in the Palermo district.

Olsen is recommended in every guidebook I have on Buenos Aires. When I went the food was third rate. It was the worst meal in Buenos Aires that I had.

The best thing I had at Olsen was the glass of beer. But Olsen does not make beer and if they did it would have been awful too! They served this hard core New Yorker a thing they called bagels for bread. I have had at least one fresh bagel a week for breakfast. Olsen might think just because you can roll dough into a circle that makes it a bagel, but the taste of these Olsen bagels was flat. It had no taste. If I took an Olsen bagel and drop single grain of salt on it, I would taste the salt as I took a bite of an Olsen bagel.

It is one thing to have a bad meal when you go out for dinner at home. A bad meal when you are vacation really hurts, because it happens during vacation time.

What irks me is that this place gets good reviews and that is why I went. It cost me 38 pesos for the painful meal and I should have asked about Oslen when I was in Buenos Aires. Because when I asked a porteno I became friends with, she wonder why I went. She said the food was awful there. All the positive reviews I read were not done by any portenos.

Just proves that the reviews can be wrong!
