The Riendenburg is fine, upscale dining and very, very good. It has both Austrian specialities and continental or international dishes-all presented beautifully.

Directions: You will need to get directions from your hotel. It is not in the historic center but very close to it.

The concierege at the hotel recommended this restaurant which he called the premier restaurant in Salzburg. We were hesitant to take our 8 year old but the staff was welcoming to him and made a special plate for him. I had sole that was outstanding and Ken had sea bass--both were prepared in unusual and delicious ways. There were several "house" tasting dishes between courses that were excellent. If you enjoy splurging occasionally this is a good place to take the plunge, but it is expensive.
