3bed/2bath apartment in Montreal, Canada When29 October - 11 November 2006, Two weeks LocationUpper two floors of a Victorian terrace house near the corner of rue St Hubert and rue Ontario. Pleasant, mainly residential street. Neighbouring streets have some commercial and office premises. Nearby AmenitiesSmall supermarket over the road. Cafés and restaurants a-plenty within 5-10 minutes' walk (especially on rue St Denis). Within 5-10 miniutes' walk of Berri-UQAM and Sherbrooke metro stations and the long-distance bus station (for buses to and from the airport and destinations further afield). Fifteen to 20 minutes' walk from Vieux-Montréal. The House/ApartmentUpper two floors of a three-storey house - the ground-floor apartment is also available, though I didn't see inside it. On the entrance level a large through living-dining room, kitchen, laundry-room (washer and dryer), and WC and shower room. GardenSmall outside terrace/patio at the back - access from the kitchen/laundry room. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasBeautifully decorated and furnished. Comfortable sofas, TV and hi-fi in the living-room, a large dining table to seat eight. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe three bedrooms all have double beds. The upstairs bathroom has a bath rather than a shower. There is also a shower room and toilet off the kitchen. KitchenThe all-electric kitchen has a large fridge, oven, microwave, toaster and kettle. There was a cafetière (plunger). Adequate cups, saucers, plates, glasses and cutlery, several saucepans. Working surface a bit limited for substantial food preparation. Agency and Representatives (and price)I was offered the apartment as part of a home exchange by the owners (Ron and Christine), who represent themselves and live nearby. I'm therefore unable to say how much it costs. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes, I would certainly recommend it, but I'm not in a position to assess value for money! Things to do in this areaThe metro takes you most places you would want to go in central Montreal, and Old Montreal is within walking distance. A good long walk I took was from Square St Louis along rue Prince Arthur up to the avenue de Pins and into Mont Royal park and up to the belvedere. Plenty of restaurants on rue St Denis. I liked the crêperie Le Triskel near Square St Louis and the chain of micro-breweries Les 3 Brasseurs (one branch is on rue St Denis).
