1bed/1bath apartment in Prague, Czech Republic

When

Prague, 2 weeks

Location

Apartment located in the Lesser Quarter of Prague within walking distance to Charles Bridge (five minutes), The Castle, Strahov Monastery. Many restaurants are in this area, which is not overcrowded by tourists. We found it very delightful after crossing the mobbed Charles bridge and walking through the thick crowds of Old Town to escape into your own, quite tranquil corner of Prague where the Prokopska apartment is.

Nearby Amenities

Grocery store is less then 10 minutes away, close to the Charles Bridge and open late.

The House/Apartment

Building is in good shape with private entrance to occupants. Has a nice courtyard. Apartment is on the third floor tucked in the corner with windows opening onto the courtyard, providing lots of privacy.

One bedroom with double bed, living room combined with kitchenette that has a small breakfast table with two chairs and also a fold out couch that can be used to host two more people.

Apartment is small, cozy, good for one or two adults, more people will probably make you feel a little claustrophobic. Our neighbours were local people, very polite, respectful. Building is kept nice and clean. Apartment is cleaned once a week while you stay there.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furniture is new, comfortable, clean.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Bathroom is roomy with stand up shower, small sink and a water heater. Also has heating wall rack to dry clothes.

Kitchen

Kitchen is very small not for major cooking but just enough to make coffee, tea, boil eggs. Refrigerator is small and needs some work but served us well since we were gone all the time.

Problems or Bonuses

Bonuses:

  • Owners kindly left power adapters for their guests for electic appliencies.
  • Free WiFI
  • Local telephone
  • Location, privacy and not a lot of tourists.

Problems: No laundry machine but Lenka or David will find you a service to pick up your laundry. There is Laundry place - Laundry King on Hradcanska metro station, same side of town with Skype access and few restaurants to spend your time while doing laundry.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

I booked with this agency for a second year in a row and received 10% discount plus an extra discount for staying for two weeks, after a very short negotiation.

Agency will pick you up and drop you off in the airport. Please remember in Prague, if you catch a taxi on the street instead of calling on the phone, your price doubles for the same distance - so I suggest using this agency to pick you up, cost €30. Johanna was staying there waiting for us in the airport. What a relief to know they are there to welcome you and they will bring you to your vacation home right away. NO hassle. Lenka, David and Johanna are all very delightful people to work with.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would definitely recommend Prokopska for the price and location. This place is ideal for two adults escaping on a honeymoon or short vacation, or for a business trip.

Things to do in this area

Must do things in this area - walk to The Castle. Great exercise and beautiful view of Prague from the top. Plenty of restaurants around. Go to the local bar two minutes away on Trziste 10, called St Nicholas Bar owned by an American expat, Kevin, who has a great selection of American rock from 60s, 70s, and 80s, etc. You feel like home there. They have great pizza and an always smiling bartender. What a treat.
