Review 3779: Rentvillas, Villa Sophia

Review by Skippylyn from Australia

2bed/1bath house on Skopelos, Greece

June/July 2008, 2 weeks

The villa was on the island of Skopelos in Greece. It was located 300 metres from Panormos Beach. It was an easy 20 minute drive from the main town of Skopelos town. The villa was located down a lovely flat quaint country lane. It was surrounded by market garden farming land with many olive, plum and native trees located on the property. It was very private with other buildings being 100 metres away. The villa was on flat terrain surrounded by hills covered in trees. It had its own pool so you had the choice of swimming in your own private pool or strolling down the country lane to the beautiful Panormos Beach with its still aqua blue waters.

Nearby Amenities

You could walk or drive to the local restaurants and supermarkets. It was an easy 10 minute walk on flat terrain. Most of the restaurants were located right on the beach where you could get a coffee or a lovely Greek meal whilst watching the most spectacular sunsets!

The supermarkets were well stocked with all you need for your holiday and the prices were cheaper than Skopelos town!

The House/Apartment

The villa is built in the traditional Greek style but is not very old. It was very peaceful. The bedrooms are upstairs both with balconies overlooking the pool. The main bathroom is upstairs with a bath and shower within the bath. The washing machine is also located in the bathroom. Downstairs is an open plan living and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen. There is a toilet located downstairs.

You can view the property directly: Villa Sophia.

There is a swimming pool with both a shallow and deep end. It is a private pool and has a nice area with four lounges and two umbrellas for shade. The villa is surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden with the most exquisite roses!

There is also an undercover sitting area with a table and chairs. This coupled with the balcony upstairs featuring a coffee table and chairs makes for so much choice!

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furniture was in excellent condition. Two comfortable lounges with a chair. There was plenty of chairs for the number of people allowed. The place was clean and is cleaned twice a week, but as all the brooms and mops etc. were there you could keep it clean daily.

Beds were comfortable. There was one queen and two singles. The bedrooms were nicely decorated. There was one bathroom and an additional toilet. The main bathroom was big.

It was a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher. There was adequate numbers of all utensils, dishes and pans. There was a large stove and oven.

Problems or Bonuses

It was as I expected and more. It would be a good idea to rent a car for your stay as it is not easy to get into the main town on bus. I found it easier to get around having my own rental car.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Rentvillas went out of their way to make sure this stay met my needs. They helped with transfers, babysitting requests and knowledge of the local area. I was greeted by an on site person when I arrived off the ferry who gave me clear directions to the villa. The owner of the property came to meet me during my stay and was very hospitable.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would definitely stay there again. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I had two children with me aged six and 11 and they loved it. I am not sure I would go with small children who can't swim as the pool is very close to the house.

If you want a relaxing peaceful holiday with fantastic weather and lovely friendly people I would recommend the island of Skopleos and the Villa Sophia. Mammia Mia!!

Things to do in this area

We ate at all the local restaurants in Panormos as well as ventured to Skopelos town for dinner and Glossa for lunch.
