2bed/1bath apartment in Reykjavik, Iceland WhenJuly 4-7, 2012, 3 nights LocationThe apartment is located in the heart of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. It is the lower apartment in a duplex, owned by the same person. It is a perfect location. Nearby AmenitiesThere are two grocery stores within easy walking distance. Innumerable restaurants within a quarter of a mile. The House/ApartmentThe apartment is in great shape. The furniture, mostly IKEA, is of higher quality than most vacation rentals. The apartment above us was occupied, but noise was not an issue. The apartment is at street level, and there is a busy sidewalk just outside, but that did not bother us at all. Parking is not provided, but street parking is not expensive or difficult to find. GardenNot really any outside sitting area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was spotless and in great shape. There were plenty of nice areas to sit. The apartment is bright and exceedingly pleasant. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were excellent, at least as good as the ones in our house at home. The bathroom was relatively large and more than adequate. KitchenThe kitchen is bright, big and extremely well-furnished. Sharp knives are provided! Problems or BonusesOnly very good surprises. We liked the apartment, and Reykjavik, even more than we thought we would. Agency and Representatives (and price)The owner (who lives in Indiana) was extremely easy to deal with, as was the financial transaction, which was handled by credit card. We paid $170 a night, for three nights, which compares very favorably with other lodging options in Reykjavik. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Without hesitation. We would love to stay here again and will recommend it to our friends and family. Things to do in this areaIceland is a quirky, but wonderful, place. It is expensive to eat out, but there are some very good restaurants. We particularly recommend the Fish Company, downtown. If you go, you should definitely rent a car for a day or two to explore the surrounding countryside, especially the Golden Circle. It is beyond spectacular, and the driving, at least in summer, is easy. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
