2bed/1bath cottage near Tilburg and Eindhoven, Netherlands

When

November 2011, 12 nights

Location

Located between the Dutch cities of Eindhoven and Tilburg, and in the middle of the countryside. Set right back from a local country road so no traffic noise. Each bungalow is set in its own area so each one is located to ensure you have a great deal of privacy. The smaller bungalows, such as this rental is a semi detached. The larger ones are detached. All bungalows are surrounded by trees bushes and shrubs, which add to the privacy.

Nearby Amenities

There is a small on-site shop. However a car is needed to explore the area so getting to the nearest village for your general groceries is not a problem. Nearest shops and restaurants or bars around 5km drive away.

The House/Apartment

The buildings are purpose built as a “vakantie park.” This park, unlike Centre Parcs is small and seems to have that more personal atmosphere. On around 3.5 hectares there are only 26 bungalows. The maximum that can sleep in the larger bungalows is 12 persons.

Garden

Outside there is an area of the “vakantie park” grounds, which is dedicated for the use of the vacationers. There is a fair bit privacy to “your own bit” of ground as it is surrounded by shrubs and bushes, with the bungalow making one boundary.

The park features a communal swimming pool, paddling pool, children’s playground, boules court, plus you can rent a bicycle. It should be noted that the swimming and paddling pools are closed during the winter.

The whole setting of this park is inside a mature semi woodland area. The buildings are hard to see from the road. There is plenty of nature all around you.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

In general the building was clean and tidy. It has to be said the furniture was utilitarian but adequate. A TV with only Dutch and German channels, and in this bungalow four individual beds. A huge shower come toilet room plus a open plan kitchenette. Brushes and mops are available to keep the place clean during your stay.

In the bungalow we hired there was an open fireplace plus a dining table and chairs. There was sufficient cutlery and furniture for four persons.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The beds were four individuals rather than doubles or larger. Doubles in at least one bedroom would have been ideal. Beds were comfortable. Wardrobe space a bit limited. Bedroom size sufficient.

The toilet room was huge a sort of wet room. This design can be found in many Dutch houses. One bathroom.

Kitchen

The kitchen was usable for two. A disappointment was the lack of a microwave or oven. It is understood that larger units have a microwave as standard and is an extra cost hire for the smaller units.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We were treated very well by the owners of this park throughout the booking period and during our stay.

The only point to raise is you may have to add on things like bedding hire and WiFi costs. All of these are listed on the website.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would recommend this location to explore the south of The Netherlands. If the location is not right for you then look for a “vakantie park” in other parts of the country and you may find you save a great deal of money over a more traditional apartment or rental.

Things to do in this area

Nearby you can find the adventure park The Efteling and a safari park. It is also a good base to explore south of the Netherlands and parts of Belgium too.
