Review 5445: Circus Group, Circus Apartments

Review by Lisa from Ottawa from Canada

apartments in Berlin, Germany

Oct 13-22, 2012, 8 nights

The Circus apartments are the latest addition to the Circus Group which includes a hostel and a hotel. The apartments are part of a newly built housing complex grouped around an inner courtyard. Circus own 22 apartments in one of the buildings. On the ground floor is The Kitchen Cafe serving breakfast, coffee sandwiches etc. An elevator takes you to the apartments spread out over several floors. More info is available on their website. As we arrived late Saturday & most shops are closed on Sundays, we found the cafe most welcome.

Our large, bright and airy one bedroom apartment was on the first floor. The bedroom and two bathrooms are off a long hallway which opens into a spacious kitchen, living and dining area. A small terrace facing the courtyard is off the living room. Banks of windows facing south and west bathe the apartment in sun morning and afternoon. Electronically controlled shutters mute sound from the street.

The bedroom, while facing the street, is quiet, because in addition to the shutters there are heavy drapes. The bedroom consists of a queen sized bed, a wardrobe, and two night tables with reading lamps. There is also a floor lamp which we moved into the living room to give that space more light in the evening.

The two bathrooms are similar except one has a shower while the other has a tub. Excellent toiletries are supplied as well as towels of various sizes. The kitchen has everything one needs to make meals or a quick reheat. There is a four-burner ceramic stove with an oven, a microwave, plenty of dishes, glasses, pots and pans, a small stove-top espresso maker as well as a French press and a kettle. There is also a wooden table with four chairs.

A large sofa separates the kitchen from the living room. There is a desk and chair in the corner . Against one wall is a TV, a DVD player, a cell phone and iPad loaded with information on Berlin.

There is a washing machine and dryer in the basement for guests use. What a plus!

Everything was new, clean and of excellent quality. We loved the apartment. Lots to do in the area and a quick walk to the u-bahn. Many bars and cafes near by. There were two large health food stores a few blocks in either direction where we bought our groceries. A very positive experience. Highly recommended.
