Spring 2005 - Southern England

April 29 - May 29, 2005: Four weeks in England

One week each in four places, all in the Southwest of England (Wiltshire, Somerset, Cotswolds, Devon). We switched between city and countryside each week.

Pauline and Steve are on this trip. We had previously spent a month in England in September 2004.

Note: April 27 2006, just a few days before leaving on our next trip to England and I finally finished this trip report!! The first two weeks were on my blog, but after that I did not keep it up to date. It was good to review this trip just before leaving on our next one - it reminds me to pack warmer clothes!!

Trip Itinerary: Overview of the trip

Arrival: Flight from Albuquerque to Heathrow and arrival.

A Week in Salisbury - part 1: Our first week was in an apartment in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Walk to Old Sarum, exploring the Salisbury Cathedral and the town, day trip to Shaftesbury in Dorset.

A Week in Salisbury - part 2: Day trip to Jane Austen House and Museum in Chawton, Winchester, New Forest, Stonehenge.

A Week in Somerset: One week in a cottage on a farm in Somerset, between Taunton and Ilminster.

A Week in the Cotswolds: One week in Minchinhamptom, in the southern Cotswolds.

A Week in Devon: One week in Mortonhampstead in Devon, eastern edge of Dartmoor.

Last Night and Going Home: Last night at a hotel in a town near Heathrow, flying back to Santa Fe.
