> SlowTrav > Stories > Pauline's Pages Rome and Naples, December 15, 2003 - January 6, 2004Rome for Christmas and New Years, with a side trip to Naples. This was a short trip for us - 2 1/2 weeks planned, but we added on a few more days at the end. See the Rome/Naples, Dec 2003 section of my blog for the trip report. ItineraryMonday, December 15: Fly Albuquerque - Atlanta - Rome Tuesday, December 16: Arrive in Rome. One night at Hotel Del Senato near the Pantheon booked through Venere. I booked the night of December 15, so we could get into our room as soon as we arrive. (Two recent trip reports talked about not getting into their room with this hotel until the afternoon. In August I turned into a raging bitch when we could not get into our room in Zurich when we arrived at 10am. After an overnight flight all I want is a bath and a sleep.) Wednesday, December 17: Train to Naples. Grand Hotel Parkers, 3 nights. This is a 5 star hotel, but it was the only way I could get Steve to Naples. He says for Naples we have to go up a star. But I got a very good price by finding a low price on Orbitz then contacting the hotel to ask for that rate. This hotel is not with Venere. Saturday, December 20: Train back to Rome. Housesitting an apartment in the center of Rome, near the Pantheon!! Colleen joined us on Christmas day for the rest of our stay. Tuesday, January 6: Fly Rome - Atlanta - Albuquerque. Originally we were leaving on the first, but it turned out we could stay a few more days in the apartment, so we changed our flight back when we were in Rome. |
