Great location, interior, price.

This hotel was just one block from the Gran Via subway stop. We took the subway from the airport to downtown with 2 changes along the route. It cost 2 euros for a ticket. It is just off the corner of Piazza de Vazquez de Mella.

We loved this hotel. We stayed one night in Madrid because of a layover on our flight from Rome to Chicago. It was great to see downtown Madrid and this hotel provided us the perfect location to walk and go eat and shop all in one evening.

There is a wonderful restaurant next door to the hotel and several others nearby one block away. This is the gay area of Madrid and very eclectic shops are abundant. It is a cool area and safe.

The hotel lobby is all marble and is large and on the floor above street level. There is also an elevator from the street level or you can use the marble stairs to reach the receptionist desk. There is free internet in the lobby. The lobby has comfortable furniture to sit and have visitors but no visitors are allowed in the rooms, only registered guests.

The dining room is off the side of the lobby and is also marble as are all the floors. It is immaculately clean and shiny.

The rate we paid for 2 people was 60 euros. This did not include breakfast but you are very close to Gran Via and many cafe choices including a McDonalds with a new McCafe that serves cappuccino and coffees and pastries. There are many Chinese restaurants nearby as well as Falafel places and Italian, also. Several Spanish restaurants also serving beers and tapas.

The room was all marble. The bed was a queen-size and very comfortable. The pillows were oddly long as if they were body pillows but thinner. So 2 people shared the pillow. There was a spacious closet and a tv and phone and plenty of lighting. The bathroom was clean and large with a shower and tub. The towels were heavenly soft and large. Shampoo and soap and lotion were provided.

The staff during the day spoke excellent English. The staff person at night spoke no English. But he finally understood I wanted a wake up call for 8am. He was friendly.
