An understated, elegant and very comfortable hotel on a pretty plaza and in the pretty town of Antequera.

A 3 star hotel with an enticing offer in February only, of 40 euros for a double. I "found" this hotel and its special February rate because of our fellow ST, Michael. Not that he said anything, but I went further and checked out his website www.anamazinghotel.com The hotel was one of the featured ones on the front page.

It seemed too good to be true but the hotel was everything it was cracked up to be. It is in a converted old palace and has the required (by me) interior patio with plants, but not over stuffed. It has been modernized enough to have an elevator. The staff were very pleasant.

We were three at that point in the trip and they gave us a triple for 60 euros. That made this hotel the most economical of any of the others we stayed at and at the same time the most comfortable and well appointed. It was quite spacious and planned for the three single beds within, central heating (which was necessary that night), TV and doors that opened out onto the plaza below.

Finally, a bathroom with counter space around the sink, and with three women sharing, you know how important that is. There was also shampoo and gel supplied. The only negative, again the same pair of smallish thin towels for each person - even in a 3 star hotel?? Of course it goes without saying that everything and all surfaces were immaculately clean.

The hotel is nicely located in the old part of town on an old plaza. On that same plaza is the excellent restaurant, El Angelote where we ate two meals.

From the hotel, you can walk in many directions to see all sorts of interesting sites, like the dolmens and the castle above.

I would try to stay at this hotel again even without the special offer.
