Stylish, hotel for access to Malaga airport. {3 stars}

53 euros per night, double occupancy, breakfast not included.

We reserved this hotel online because we wanted to be situated for our next day flights out of the Malaga airport. It worked well for that. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Malaga, about 3 kms from the aiport. There is no shuttle, you could call for a taxi pick up. There are no taxis just driving around the streets in this area. We drove our rental car to the drop off point at the airport.

Hotel Picasso is a family resort type, about 4 blocks walking distance to the beach. It is in a mostly residential zone, surrounded by very nice, modern two story villas. Hotel Picasso is new construction, all on ground level, no need for elevators, easy to get your luggage in/out and easy to park your car on the street at this time of the year.

The lounge, rooms and bathrooms are very nicely decorated, but tiny tv screens. All have direct outside garden access, big lawn area and a swimming pool (in the summer). The hotel has a breakfast room, 7.50 euros for a so-so buffett, but no real restaurant. We found one pizzaria in the barrio.

We arrived early enough that we got the bus, 1 euro each way, into Malaga. It is about a half hour ride and not pretty. The route goes through industrial zones, and the sprawl of non-descript, high rise apartment buildings until suddenly, and at last, you arrive in old downtown Malaga.

I reccomend this hotel for comfortable, clean, one night arrivals/departures at Malaga airport but not as a base to visit Malaga itself.
