Tranquil luxury in a glorious location. Perched on the southern slopes of the Sierra Gredos this wonderful hotel is just the place for some serious relaxation.

This new 4 star hotel sits perched on the southern slopes of the Sierra Gredos just a short two hour drive from Madrid Airport.

The steep drive up and out of the small town of Candeleda is wholly justified by the location of the hotel which has the most amazing 360 degree panoramic views across to the South and West with a backdrop of steep mountain peaks. The only sounds you will hear are the quiet jangling of goat bells and the stir of the circadas. We were blessed with some amazing autumn sunshine and spent a relaxing day at the pool side watching the local raptors soar high overhead.

The owners are clearly two people of vision who not only found this wonderful location but spent seven hard years building the hotel. They are warm, welcoming and speak fluent english. It is beautifully designed with plenty of private areas for guests to lounge or socialise. What you see on the web site is what you get - beautifully spacious rooms with glorious views.

We had room three from which we sat each evening to watch the sun set across the hills and later suffered stiff necks gawping at the milky way and stars in a clear night sky.

The room rates include breakfast. There is a well stocked honesty bar including tea and coffee which is available all day. If like us, you had no plans to leave the hotel during the day, there is one small drawback in that lunch or a picnic is not available. We had dinner both evenings of our stay from a small select menu. The food and service was very good and the Nabia House Rioja can be recommended.

We were on a 10 day touring holiday in Extremadura and Castile y Leon and although we saw some beautiful historic towns, enjoyed some other lovely hotels and restaurants ... our stay at this hotel was the highlight of our holiday and we thoroughly recommend that you treat yourself and take some quality time out here to breathe, relax and enjoy.
