Good Hotel in Nice Quiet Area with Great Service Staff {4 stars}

I had a very difficult choice to make when choosing a hotel for our week in Madrid. This was the first time in a long time that we were taking one hotel for the entire week and so it was majorly important to ensure it would really be a good place, clean, well-suited for our needs, etc.

I agonized for a long time and went back and forth between several. This was a very good choice, in retrospect.

This is a medium size hotel with about 74 rooms. They have various types of rooms and we chose a standard room. I saw pictures of the superior rooms on their web site and they looked truly beautiful but I could not see spending the extra money. As it turned out, our room was very good.

It was a good size and even large for European rooms. It consisted of THE most comfortable bed we have ever had in a hotel room. It was a hard mattress and each of us had two huge big fluffy pillows which all made for great night's sleeps.

There was an LCD TV which we did not turn on even once, a desk area with two chairs, some space for luggage and very large bathroom with a tub/shower, toilet, bidet and large sink with counter tops. There was a closet which was not quite big enough to store all our clothes and things for the week but also had a very large safe, large enough to store a laptop.

The hotel service staff was just about the nicest and most helpful we have ever encountered. We had lots of questions and they always gave us advice, helped us with maps, answered everything with calm, quiet, patience and a smile. They were super.

Our room was not on the street side where we could have had a room with two floor-to-ceiling windows/balcony, but rather in a small courtyard so while we had no view at all, it was mostly very quiet. The street-side room would also have been quiet if the doors/windows were kept closed because they have double/triple glazing, but if you wanted them kept open, it may have been a bit noisier.

The hotel offers free Wi-Fi which worked ALL the time and worked well. We took out laptop and it was a godsend for checking times and schedules of events and keeping in touch with home.

And the hotel also offers free mini-bar which was a nice touch. They stock (and re-stock every day depending of what you have taken the day before) the mini-bar with juices, water, beers, and sodas of all kinds. And you can also use it obviously as a frig for whatever foodstuffs you may buy during the day.

We got a really good rate of 93 Euros per night for the double. On that they add the usual 7% tax so it came out to just under E100 per night. This was a special rate because we stayed for more than 5 nights.

Should we ever get back to Madrid, we may choose to stay in a different hotel, but only because Madrid is so big and there is such a variety that we might want to be in a different neighborhood. But I can highly recommend this hotel.
