When: March 2012

Stay at the highest point in this town, in recently constructed rooms with spectacular views. {2 stars}

60 euros per night, double occupancy, includes breakfast.

We found this hotel online and stayed for two comfortable nights. It is quite a steep car drive through the streets up to this small hotel but once arrived, there is a large parking area - something rare in the old park of town - and close, easy walk to get your luggage into the hotel. It is only two stories, no elevator but we were on the ground floor anyway.

The very clean rooms are small but adequate; twin beds that can be pulled together for couples. The bathrooms are very modern, with lots of hot water. There is a flat screen tv, but, as we were to see in succeeding hotels, they did not use money to buy a big screen, not even a medium size. It is a teeny, tiny screen.

The best feature is a balcony, with table and chairs, that looks North, out over a vast swath of Andalusian countryside. One also sees many wind turbines so if this spoils the view for you, be advised. I thought that the view was so spectacular that turbines could not overpower the beauty.

The balcony is made private from adjoining balconies by walls, but they built the front wall, towards the view too high. You must stand at the edge to see the view.

A restaurant is connected and part of the hotel. We ate an excellent meal of roasted meat, brought out on a big, loaded platter, family style. The included breakfast is just coffee and toast but they also brought out an Andalucian breakfast staple, I think called "junta" which I believe is bacon drippings mixed together with bits of chorizo and tiny bits of roasted meats. It is delicious and I indulge everytime I am in Andalucia, subscrbing to the theory that "Everything in moderation" - even bacon drippings - is what eating is about.

It is a pleasent and easy walk down to the main plaza, it is a pleasant and STEEP walk back up to the hotel. Taking your time, it is worth it.
