El Rocio: Hotel Toruno

Unexpectedly delightful hotel base for touring Doņana National Park.

This hotel was an unexpected delight! As a base for touring Doņana National Park, it can't be beat. And El Rocio is worth a visit in itself.

The hotel's location is directly on the marsh (flamingos, stilts, all kinds of herons, and wild horses directly out your window) in the truly unique town of El Rocio. We knew this was "the best" place to stay in El Rocio, but were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was.

Room was small, and simple, but bright and the expansive view with full floor-to ceiling windows made it seem larger. The hotel restaurant (in a seperate building across the sandy "street") is also excellent and we had a very good dinner there. Hotel has all the amenities--cable tv, a/c, and breakfast is included in the price of 85 euros. Be sure to ask for a room overlooking the marsh.

Just don't travel to El Rocio during Pentacost, when the town is invaded by over a million pilgrims.
